Review of Afghanistan developments
In the last four years, the Kabul Municipality has swiftly executed road construction projects in Kabul; individuals who have not visited Kabul during this period will encounter a transformed city, as numerous roads have been refurbished, several new roads have been constructed, and various road construction initiatives are currently in progress.
Although the Afghan government is currently experiencing an economic crisis, the extent of construction indicates that it prioritizes public satisfaction. This initiative is not confined to the capital; reconstruction efforts are progressing throughout all regions of Afghanistan in a balanced fashion. Additionally, intercity roads are being constructed rapidly, with numerous examples readily observable.
At present, road construction and reconstruction activities are taking place in different areas of Kabul. It appears that the government’s objective in this significant initiative is twofold: firstly, to instill hope in the populace and guarantee their welfare. Secondly, to project a favorable image of the capital to diplomats and tourists visiting Kabul. Historically, Kabul was known for being overcrowded, unclean, and disorderly, and this transformation could serve as a positive testament to governance.

Eliminating concrete barriers
Since the republican era, it has become customary to position concrete barriers in front of ministries, departments, institutions, and foreign offices. This action, implemented to enhance security, has not only caused inconvenience to the movement of individuals but has also rendered Kabul’s appearance less appealing. Currently, the Kabul Municipality has mandated the removal of these concrete barriers, and the process of their removal has commenced.

In this context, the concrete barriers along the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Road, which is among the most significant and heavily trafficked roads in Kabul, have recently been taken down. Additionally, concrete barriers were eliminated from the Malek Asghar intersection to the Zanbaq intersection. Furthermore, concrete barriers were removed from the sidewalks on Darul Aman Road, providing a refreshed appearance to this vital road in Kabul.
It is hoped that through the reconstruction of not just Kabul but the entirety of Afghanistan, along with the restoration of peace, the citizens of Afghanistan will have the opportunity to experience a fulfilling life.
